Few images indexed by sitemap

Good day. i have the same exact problem. End of September was when the same issue started.

I’m experiencing the same thing. My website, https://www.noypigeeks.com, used to have thousands of images indexed in Google. However, it dropped to a couple of hundreds last September. I only noticed it this month because a friend was experiencing the same thing and he asked me about it. Is this about Yoast or it’s a separate issue?

There seem to be multiple online discussions regarding this issue at the moment and you’re not the only one affected. You can check them here and here. There also seems to be an issue with the old and new interfaces of GSC.

Will using the purge plugin help us in this case? My site is https://www.technobaboy.com.

@technobryan The purge plugin is for attachment pages not images so it would not help in this case.

You’re not the only one who saw weird information in the old Google Search Console.
There’s currently a known bug in Google Search Console that can cause your images to appear as noindexed. Google’s John Mueller confirmed there’s a bug on the Google product forums: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/kX9KOj3RYGc/discussion.

Notice that the bug is just a reporting issue and does not affect the actual indexing & ranking of the images.
