    Good morning

We have a problem with some of our products displaying with the message “Some of your fields has duplicated datanames, please fix it” instead of the required field group.

Looking at the product list in Admin, the field group is repeated for these products. Using “Remove Meta” bulk acion will cure the problem, but if you edit the product, the group gets duplicated again.

Everything on the site is up to date and the problem also occurs on Twenty Twenty-One with only WooCommerce and PPOM active. I have a single field group with one text field which is attached to a category.

One interesting thing which might help locate the problem. I added a new group of a single field attached to a category. The group list then said “Test group 1, Test group 2, Test group 1”. I then edited and saved at which point it said: “Test group 1, Test group 2, Test group 2”. The final group was changed if I selected the other field group.

The plugin has been on the site for over a year but it is a festival site so nothing has been edited for at least 6 months, so I cannot pinpoint when it started occuring. It is happening both on old products and ones we have just added to the site.

    Could you please investigate?

    Thanks

    Hi @mandynepeta,

I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve encountered. I couldn’t understand what you meant by “group list” or what you edited. If you could share a screenshot, it would help us understand the issue better.

Since you have been using the plugin for over a year, could you please confirm that you are using the latest version? If you are, please revert to a previous version and let us know which version restores the functionality for you. This guide should help you with the process:?https://docs.themeisle.com/article/744-how-to-rollback-your-theme-and-plugin#previous-plugin

    ?Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi @poonam9

To clarify, we are running the latest version – 33.0.8. I have checked with previous versions and it looks like the problem appeared with version 33. Prior to that, it only ever displays the group once and the fields appear on the front of the site.

The “group list” referenced is the PPOM column on the Products list – see https://snipboard.io/uwkXsq.jpg

If you edit the product and make any change (or none) and click on Save Draft/ Publish/ Update, the PPOM group is displayed twice in the column (circled) and you get the message on the front of the site.

    I hope this clarifies things.

    Hello,

@mandynepeta did you manage to find a solution for this problem? (other than downgrading to a version prior to the 33 release)

I’m experiencing this same issue and manually editing the products and removing the duplicate fields is starting to get irritating.

    Hi @vvilii

I am still having the issue. My reading of the problemis that they have subtly changed the method/ location used to store the metadata so that the new is sitting alongside the old rather than replacing it. I am hoping that @poonam9 can find and sort out whatever it is.

Hi @mandynepeta and thanks for the quick reply.

I spent some time looking in to this today and here’s what I figured out:
    – When I first set up PPOM, I used categories to tag the fields to different type of products – for example “Laptop” category products were linked with laptop peripherals PPOM fields and so on
    – In my case, there are hundreds of products that already exist in the WooCommerce, and most of the product edits are just edits of the pre-existing products
    – When editing a product, the product already has a PPOM field assigned to it, and for some reason when hitting save it just adds the field as a double –> “Some of your fields has duplicated datanames, please fix it”. This can be seen in the PPOM fields when you click the “Attached products”, the edited product is now visible as a single product (where as before it was only using the category tag)

What I did to fix this was remove the category sorting from PPOM and only use the PPOM selection that is visible when editing a single product. Since it’s no longer tagged to a certain category, it’s not showing as a double anymore. However, when I removed the category connection, all of my products lost the PPOM field and I had to manually fix those. But for now, it seems to be working.

Perhaps they changed the way categories and products are handled in some 33x update?
