Fields placed under Types control don't work

  • I am working with a theme (Amber) that has certain custom fields (specifically a per page/post banner image) which I need to enable on my custom types. The custom type I created uses the same template as the default post and displays the default banner image where it would were it normal post.

    However even after placing the custom fields that control this “under types control”, and despite these being displayed in the backend (the option to upload the banner image, with the correct custom field name/slug shows up in the custom post type), it does not work on the front end at all. Even with the desired images uploaded into this field, the post still shows the default image no matter what I do.

    Any help figuring this out would be appreciated!

    I can not help you. Amber is a paid theme and I have no access to this theme.

    Is the default image you’re seeing showing up on the Post page or when trying to build a page?
    If it’s during page building it looks like Amber uses Visual Composer, and the stock Grid Elements (e.g. Post Grids) will use the default Featured Image field (supports=>...'thumbnail'...) instead of a custom image field. You may be able to get around this by creating your own Grid Elements.
