File access?

Hello,

I am trying to find out if this Plugin is the right one for us. I read this in the WIKI:

If you select “Yes” all files will locked by a .htaccess file and only users with access can download files. Otherwise the User Access Manager will not control the access to your files.

Can this be used to set up an upload/download area for various files other than images (DOC, PDF, XLS etc.), based on permissions and groups?

If yes: Where are these files managed? In the Media Area or somewhere else?

If I select “Yes” now…will then all files be locked, including previously uploaded images (included in Pages/Posts, and Customizer Files like logos etc.)?
