File appears to be malicious – Ignore missing file

    Hello,

    Wordfence has alerted me that some files seem malicious – I have located them in a backup and can confirm that they contain malicious code.
    I can’t find them on the server anymore though and Wordfence suggests to “Ignore missing file”. How can Wordfence scan a file that doesn’t exist anymore? Did Wordfence delete the file prior to alerting me?
    I searched the docs but couldn’t find any info on this.

    Wordfence does not delete files automatically. Most likely, the files were deleted some other way after the scan had run. This could have been done by an admin on the site, or some automated malware cleanup software that runs on the server.
