File attachement

Just go into your admin panel Options > Miscellaneous and allow the file uploads. You can specify there the exact directory where the files should go.
Furthermore in the field “Allowed file extensions:” – add .pdf.
Then after uploading take the code WP is giving to you and put it in your post.

Ah, sorry to bug you. I successfully intalled WordPress on my server, but I’m not getting that option.

The only options listed for me are:
Track Links’ Update Times
Use legacy my-hacks.php file support

Is there something else that I need to install first?

MissJabba what he was referring to is in the old version of wp. Wp 2.0 now has the file uploading where you writing your post ??

Ah ha! That’s excellent, then. I actually spotted that function, but as luck would have it, my host Bravenet seems to be down at the moment so I can’t test it yet.

You can customize your upload directory, if you like by adding the following to your wp-config.php file:
define('UPLOADS', 'files/blog');

It’s relative, so if you’re WordPress install is in https://yoursite.org/blogo, the files will be uploaded to https://yoursite.org/blogo/files/blog/(year)/(month).

Keep your eyes peeled for the next update for the next update of WP 2.0, the option is slated to return to its rightful place in the admin panel.

I hate asking all these really obvious questions, but when I attempted to upload a pdf, I get this message about server permissions.

Unable to create directory /usr/local/apache2/misc/14/165/274/296/4/user/web/whateveryamericanshouldknow.com/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Hmmmmm, obviously I am leaving something out.
