    Hi,

I just received my first File Change Detected report, and it lists 6.000(!) files that have changed. Some of the files were changed last December. As this is new to me, I have no idea where to begin. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is there anything in particular to look for? Maybe not all the file changes are critical? Or do I have a huge problem on my hands? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, when you read the log file check for the following info.

Note: Also bare in mind that some of the detection might be false positive. The false positive can be ignored.

There might be files and directories that change regularly. One such file or directory could be related to a cache plugin. If it is a cache plugin, you need to add these folders or files to the following areas in the plugin File Change Detection settings

    File Types To Ignore:
    Files/Directories To Ignore:

Let me know if you need more help.

    Kind regards

    Hi,
If you updated your wordpress version and also your theme and plugins you will see a lot of file changes. Try to match the date and time of the file changes with when you last updated your system and if they are around the same period then that would explain why so many files changed.

Yes, I was thinking, and hoping, there might be a lot of false positives. Just wondering if some info is missing in your reply, you wrote: when you read the log file check for the following info, and I’m not sure what info to check for. Yes, I saw in another post that cache plugin files could be ignored. I’ll add the folders to the ignore section. Thanks!

I can see that a lot of the files are related to plugins, theme, images/uploads, and some look like language files, so I assume it is all/mostly ok. Will check the dates. Thanks!
