• I am confused because I receive daily (once or twice a day) 2 email notifications, sent at the exact same time: one with files deleted and the other with files added.

The number of files deleted is most of the times the exact same as the number of files added. And from what I can see there really are the same files that are deleted/added.

Also, generally, the number of files added/deleted is large: hundreds or over a thousand.

Are these reports reflecting the files added/deleted/modified during updates? Or is there really some dangerous activity they show?

  • I share your confusion. I receive email notifications about file changes I have not made. Does that mean my site has been hacked or would I also receive such an email when the plugin has been updated or a back-up has been made?

I hope we will receive some answer..

    Hi,

This really greatly depends on what type of files are being changed. It’s very possible that these are normal processes. I’d suggest excluding files related to backups and cache files from detection as there are often updated.

If you can share some examples we can take a look.

    Thanks,
