• Hi,

I’m currently getting warnings about file changes detected so I visit my logs and see a lot of 404 errors and a few file changes detected. Looking at the logs it says there a bunch of files added (our host called us saying they were seeing a lot of files being added), but all of the files were already there. Such as normal style.css files or includes and when I check them out there’s no odd code.

I don’t know what’s normal, but I want to protect our site. What do I do?

    Thanks so much in advance!

  • I have the same problem. Every day getting warnings about a bunch of files (probably all or most of the site), already present for months / years ago. And some 404 errors.

File Change Detection doesn’t seem to work. Doesn’t seem to remember file data and hashes. Finds the same “changed files” over and over again.

Right! And even when it says File Change Detection, sometimes it’s empty or its files that, like you said, have been there for a while and have no changes made to them.

What exactly do we do to best protect our sites? I’ve gotten rid of the username that they are trying to login with and tried to upload my backup files over the ones that were apparently “changed.”

I’ve also tried blocking the IP addresses, but they are coming from everywhere so that doesn’t work. It’s constant attacks. Really not sure what to do?

Have you had any luck, ambroz?
