    Hi there
    I noted this strange issue with your plugin Media Library Folders

    All the files that usually upload are file with exif data + title and description, I usually export them from Adobe Lightroom
    I will make easy…

    1) if i upload the file NOT USING your plugin but the usual WordPress media uploader the system put the file in the usual folder yyyy/mm/ and KEEP the information in the media (description + title)

    2) if i upload the file USING your plugin the system put the file in my custom folder but DELETE the information in the media (description + title) doing that i KEEP disabled your image SEO setting as I do not want %folder% or %filename%

    regards

    When I test uploading an image with exif data via the WordPress Media Library Page, no exif data is saved in the image’s meta data record. The WordPress function for extracting the exif data may not be reliable.

    Sure, the problem is not the exif the problems are:

    (1) title (forced to became like the file name because your plugin )
    (2) description (deleted uploading by your plugin)

    If I upload an image with a description with Media Library Folders deactivated, I still don’t get an image description.

    Sorry my fault.. not so clear… I meant the caption field…

    In media file uploaded via WordPress without any plugin you have you have actually 4 main fields…
    1) alternative text
    2) title
    3) caption
    4) description

    After I import via WordPress without any plugin my images I have this situation:
    1) alternative text -> EMPTY
    2) title -> OK
    3) caption -> OK
    4) description -> EMPTY

    If I use with the same exact image your nice plugin (anyway an amazing tool!) this is the situation:

    1) alternative text -> EMPTY
    2) title -> not OK but changed to filename
    3) caption -> EMPTY
    4) description -> EMPTY

    Thank you for the explanation. I will take a look at this and get back to you.

    I’ve looked for ways to read the exif data from images files and I have found a PHP function that will retrieve the exif data from JPEG files. I’ve added this function to a development version of Media Library Folders and use it to get the image’s title and description. You can download this version at the bottom of this page https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/media-library-plus/advanced/ under the PREVIOUS VERSIONS, Select Version 5.2.1 from the dropdown list and click the download button. Unzip and overwrite you current version of Media Library Folders with it.
