Hi. We’ve been using your plugin on this and other sites fine for a year or two now. Working well.

Client recently pointed out images not uploading in media library. I tested and all seems OK. So I’ve been sent a few images they couldn’t upload and I confirm they don’t upload but appear to be regular .jpg files. You can download one of them from here. I’m trying to get to the bottom of what is causing this, possibly specific to a setting on a device or the device itself. Client confirmed camera is Canon Ixus 160 PC 2197.

The error we get on upload is:

Imsanity was unable to resize this image for the following reason: File is not an image.. If you continue to see this error message, you may need to install missing server components. If you think you have discovered a bug, please report it on the Imsanity support forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/imsanity

No server components were listed though and nothing mentioned in error log at the time. I know we have GD running OK. I’ve read
this support thread which is similar. I tried running that test script mentioned with a test image on server but I get a syntax error as follows:

    17064 mydomain.sch.uk [Mon Apr 30 09:53:22 2018] [error] [client 81.141.159.169:53926] AH01215: PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘jpg\xe2\x80\x9d’ (T_STRING), expecting ‘,’ or ‘)’ in /home/sites/mydomain.sch.uk/public_html/testimageupload.php on line 2: /home/sites/mydomain.sch.uk/public_html/testimageupload.php

So I’ma bit stuck. Any ideas?

Hi @dozza, I apologize for the extremely late response, it seems I’ve missed a few threads that www.ads-software.com didn’t email me about.

I’m going to do some testing with that image shortly.

I tested that image with both GD and ImageMagick active on PHP 7.1, and encountered no errors.
If you’re still interested in tackling this, check what version of PHP you are using, and ensure that GD is actually active with the phpinfo() function (there’s also a phpinfo plugin for WordPress).
