• I am looking for some advice on best practice for handling regularly updated files. I have a series of files that will get updated multiple times a year, and are linked to in multiple places. The default wordpress approach of organizing uploads by date is thus not very useful to me, as I would need to update links every time I upload a new update to the file. I am hoping there is an easy way to manage files that is more, um rigorous.
Currently I am using cloud front, and that is it’s own misery because every update then requires invalidating the previous version, and their workflow for that is a process only an engineer could love. In a perfect world I would find a way to host the files myself with consistent patching and use CloudFlare as the CDN.

    Thanks!
    Gordon

  • In your admin dashboard under Settings than Media there should be a checkbox which specifies whether or not to organize uploads into month- and year-based folders or not.

If you uncheck this it won’t use the date structure.
