• Hi,

    I’ve installed Simple Tags v. 11.3 on WordPress 2.9.1
Now, on the Apache access log I frequently see errors like this:

[Tue Jan 26 20:41:38 2010] [error] [client xx.zz.yy.kk] (36)File name too long: access to /wp-content/plugins/cforrt, Millesimo, Croce Bianca, partito democratico, Politica, Comuni, Lega Nord, Cultura, consi [...SNIP...] failed

The error no longer occurs by inhibiting the creation of meta keywords ( outputMetaKeywords() on line 450 of simple-tags.client.php and st_get_meta_keywords() on line 72 of simple-tags.functions.php ).

I also tried to clean up the tags list from letters with accents but didn’t work.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Simone.

  • That’s a weird error. Do you have a plugin named ‘cforrt, Millesimo, Croce Bianca, partito democratico, Politica, Comuni, Lega Nord, Cultura, consi…’? I’m betting you don’t, which means that something is causing some very strange redirection. What plugins do you have running? Do you see any errors anywhere other than the Apache log?

    Hi,
it seems that some browser ( most IE 8.0 with OfficeLiveConnector plugin ) have problems with meta keywords generated by simple-tags.

There are no errors anywhere other than the Apache log.
    No PHP warnings or notices…

One week of log without simple tags meta keywords reported 0 errors.

    Thank you.
    Simone.

With the OfficeLiveConnector plugin disabled and simple-tags enabled do you get error messages? See, no browser should be trying to convert meta keywords into filenames. That’s pretty odd behavior. And I have a pretty hard believing that simple-tags is building this oddball filename. That’s a pretty big mistake. So it seems to me to be either OfficeLiveConnector or OfficeLiveConnector plus simple-tags.

I’m sorry, but if this is a OfficeLiveConnector problem I think sorting this out would take knowing how OfficeLiveConnector works, and I don’t. I did lookit up and my cursory investigation makes me wonder why its trying to contact your site at all. Does OfficeLiveConnector have any kind of blog insert/edit feature?

    I don’t know if OfficeLiveConnector has an insert/edit feature…
The only thing I suppose that this plugin is installed automatically in IE while updating Office 2007 with its Live components… But I have no further information on how it works or why behave in this way….

    Thank you for your time.

    Simone.
