File Not Found when using Static Page as Front page

    I have the following permalink structure: /archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    I chose to showcase my ‘about’ page as the front page, and created a dummy page called ‘archives’ as the posts page.

    I also have a DreamHost advanced install (basically, a normal WordPress install) under ‘mydomain/’.

    The problem is that when I link to files I get a 404. I tried uploading through FTP to mydomain/ or to mydomain/wp-content/uploads/ and I also tried uploading through WordPress to organized and unorganized folders.

    I also tried specifying the Full URL path to files, but none of these options worked.

    The interesting thing is that if I go to mydomain/wp-content/uploads/ I can download the files and not get a 404.

    Can anyone please help me point out where the problem is? Is it .htaccess? Or maybe permalinks? Is this an expected behavior or is it a WP bug?

    My domain is rolandog.com. There are some links in the front page pointing to my résumé/CV.

    Did you upload your resume/CV via WP and make a note of the uploaded file’s url in the Media Library?

    Indeed. As I said in the previous explanation, I also tried uploading through WP.

    I also found out a weird Y2K10 bug for WP, since the files were uploaded to my /uploads/2005/11 directory at first. I then chose to not use folders so they were uploaded to my /uploads the third time I tried.

    I also tried using and disabling the Full URL Path to files option.

    How is that a bug when you had previously opted to sort your uploads into month- and year-based folders?

    Can you post a link to a page that demonstrates your file 404 problem?

    Ok, forget about the Y2K10 bug… the date of the page was 2005/11, so the files were uploaded to 2005/11.

    Getting back to the topic at hand, if I link to resume-rolando-garza-en.pdf, you’ll get a 404. But if you go to wp-content/uploads/ and click ‘resume-rolando-garza-en.pdf’, you can download the file.

    I do not see a file called resume-rolando-garza-en.pdf but I do see a resume-rolandog-en.pdf.. could this be the issue?
    The correct address would be:
    https://rolandog.com/wp-content/uploads/resume-rolandog-en.pdf

    I wish I could travel faster-than light, go through some sort of wormhole and slap myself real hard on the face, in order to avoid this epic FFUUUUU.
