Hello I am getting this issue when I am trying to manually update the rules ( due to automatice update failed notice )

” No rules were updated. Please verify you have permissions to write to the /wp-content/wflogs directory “

But the file permissions are correct and I gave 777 but still the same failed notice which doesn’t make any sense.

Hi @saimulft, thanks for your question.

If you’re not seeing permission failures reported on Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Filesystem, I would try navigating to your wp-content/wflogs folder via FTP or file manager. You should be able to delete the wflogs folder or its contents entirely and Wordfence should try to repopulate it within 30 minutes.

It’s also worth checking that in addition to the recommended 755 permissions on your WordPress site’s directories, the process owner is also www-data.

If you’ve made these tests and changes but still experience persistent problems with the permissions, you can try bypassing this entirely by instead setting Wordfence to write to the MySQLi storage engine instead of a file: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/mysqli-storage-engine/

    Thanks,
    Peter.
