File Upload: Changing Path of Temporary Folder

I am having great difficulties in trying to change the path of the temporary folder. I get the email that the file was received; but there is no file in the folder. I am not attaching the received file to the notification email; so that shouldn’t be the issue.

I want to use a folder that is closer to the root of the main site. For now, my full path would be:

‘/home/demodave/public_html/demodavepro.com/uploads’

I have tried this using Define in the wp-config.php with no luck. I tried the above with two dots before the path…still with no luck. I would really appreciate any help on this.
