Hello there, I wonder if you are able to help with an issue I’m getting.

Basically I’m using Wordfence (free version) and Gravity Forms. When I upload a large file (appears to be over 500mb) the file gets to 100% and pauses for 5-10 seconds before displaying an error message.

I reached out to the guys at Gravity Forms, and they told me that the issue could be caused buy other plugins. Hence I disabled Wordfence and the files upload succesfully.

Can this be fixed? Is there a way Wordfence can disable scanning file uploads through forms or is this a different issue?

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi @mikepopcorn

The Wordfence firewall has file upload scanning capability.

As a test, if you disable the rule file_upload: Malicious File Upload (Patterns) does a previously failed file upload complete?

There are several file upload firewall rules so make sure you disable the correct one above.

If the file upload completes then it is likely that the time set by the max_execution_time PHP directive has been exceeded due to the time it takes for the firewall to scan the file for malicious code.

Rather than disabling this firewall rule you may be able to set a longer time for the max_execution_time PHP directive. However, 500Mb is a large size and this may not be practical as we don’t recommend setting a value higher than 90 seconds for the max_execution_time PHP directive.
