Hi, first to thank you for this excellent plugin ??

I’m getting a stack of warnings like this:

WARNING: File name “wp-content/uploads/xxxx/dynamic/yyyy-nggid042571-ngg0dyn-200x200x90-00f0w010c010r110f110r010t03jpg.jpg” is too long to be saved correctly in TarBz2 archive!

I found a similar thread about long filenames here but the solution isn’t practical for me as the rogue files are distributed in 100+ different folders ??

Is it possible to either build in a simple “skip_long_file_names” option or better still to exclude a pattern of folders or files like */dynamic/* ?
Alternatively somehow shorten long filenames to fit TarBz2 limits?

    Brgds.

  • The WARNING says only the the filname will saved shortend. But i must give a hint for that.
In the big excludes box (in bottom of the files tab) you can add ,/wp-content/uploads/xxxx/dynamic/ that will only exclude this folder or ,/dynamic/ will exclude all “dynamic” folders. Or since BackWPup 3.1.2 you can ad a file called .donotbackup to that folder than it will not backuped to (includeinf subfolders).

Also you can change to a ZIP Archive. They can store longer file names.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer, I’ll use the ,/dynamic/ option ??
