When I download files with ?dl=0 suffix added by Dropbox I get the following error…
    Windows can’t open this file:

The files are zip files but I’ve tried with different ones such as PDF’s and get the same error.

If I remove this the file downloads as a zip but with ‘The archive is either in unknown format or damaged’.

    What am I doing wrong??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Glowfrog,

The plugin should change the suffix to ?dl=1 so the file will be automatically downloaded by the browser. Do you get the ?dl=0 suffix when you select a Dropbox file through the plugin?

Also, are you sure the .zip file is not corrupt? You could check this by opening the file from the dropbox dashboard.

    Hi

Files are fine downloaded from Dropbox direct, so not corrupt.
    Plugin adds suffix

    Hi again,

I’ve copied the link generated by the plugin and pasted it into a browser.
It opens fine this way but when I try clicking in the link on the webpage it still doesn’t work.

    Hi Glowfrog,

Is it possible to send me a link so I can test it out?

    Hi

I managed to find the issue. We are using another Woocommerse plugin Direct Free Download to allow people to download free products, https://codecanyon.net/item/direct-download-for-woocommerce/6320429. The problem seems to be with using this and yours. Would be great to be able to resolve this as we want to offer this but store everything on Dropbox.

Woocommerse-Dropbox works great when you go through the checkout process!

    Hi Glowfrog,

I’m not able to buy the plugin but could this be a problem on the Direct Free Download plugins side? The WooCommerce Dropbox plugin only provides a pop-up where a user can select a Dropbox file and then automatically adds the public URL to the downloadable product field.

    Thank you

    Hi Vadiem,

Thanks for providing this plug-in ??
It seems I’m having a similar problem to Glowfro100, but I get the message that windows cannot open files which I’ve downloaded in test orders.

The files are not corrupt (I can open / play them from within Dropbox) yet when I do a test order, I click the link and the files (be they .mp3 or .zip) download very fast – then don’t want to open ??

I can confirm the plugin is changing the DB URL to ?dl=1 when I use “Choose from Drobbox” link.

    Item is here: https://naturalhealer.com.au/product/meditation-healing-audio/
Use coupon code dbdeveloper to get it for free so you can see ??

Thank you so much in advance for your help,
    Best, Melissa

Hey, naturalhealerau i have same problem i think plugin need some kind of update or developer to look in what is wrong all my files are fine and working in Dropbox but when I test buy them i get error when i try to open and example: 1 mb file in dropbox in test buy comes out as 61 kb file.

Great plugin i hope this problem will be solved

    Hi Kireaki,

Thanks for your message… I uncovered a little ‘work around’ for the issue myself by simply doing the following:

    1. Grab the “Share Dropbox Link” URL for the file
    2. Pasted the URL into a notepad, then changed the URL suffix from ?dl=0 to
    ?dl=1
    3. Copied that updated URL
    4. Pasted it into the product URL section of my Woocommerce product section and clicked save
    5. The file download works now ??

Hopefully there will be a fix to this great plugin so we don’t have to use this workaround, but good luck!!

    Hi naturalhealerau

And I think I know why is this happening why link that is changed in notepad works

Example this is link from Dropbox
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6guebo1jcta6neh/BE%20RIGHT%20BACK.jpg?dl=1 where I’ve add 1 instead of 0 like you

This is link if you add it from wordrpress
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/6guebo1jcta6neh/BE RIGHT BACK.jpg?dl=1

    problem are spaces and %

I just checked and there was same problem and it was fixed with update from developer so I hope he will read this and fix it cause this plugin is perfect.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your interest in this plugin. I’m looking into this problem, have to see if I can reproduce the issue.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Hi,

    any news about this problem?

    ??

    Hi Kireaki, naturalhealerau,

Thanks for the help. I just pushed version 1.0.5 which I think should fix your problems.

Naturalhealerau, I ‘purchased’ your product with the coupon code and was able to download the MP3 file, so I’m not sure what was causing your issue. Did the MP3 file finished uploading to dropbox before you linked it to your WooCommerce product? Maybe Dropbox needs some time before the MP3 file was able to be downloaded again through the share URL.

If you need any help, let me know!

And if you’re still happy with the plugin, could you please leave a review? Thanks so much!

    Vadiem

Hi, Vadiem ty for awesome support and update.
Review added cause this is really great plugin

    Hi Vadiem,

Thanks so much for testing it out – you were able to download the file because I actually played around and tweaked the Dropbox URL manually in the product section after I submitted my enquiry to you …so I got it working myself (Sorry I should have updated this thread for you when I did that)

But I can see you’ve pushed out a new version, and will update the plugin and see how I go after I add another product.

For sure, will leave a review, great product – well done!
