files with same name are overwriten

  • When using the Media Library within WP, if you upload a file with the same name of a file you have already uploaded – the uploader will automatically rename the new file to avoid a conflict.

    When using the S3 plugin, if you upload a file with the same filename it will keep the name and overwrite the old file instead of renaming to avoid conflict. Is there a way to prevent this?

    BTW – absolutely LOVE this plugin. Works very well aside from the issue above. Highly recommend it!!!

  • I think this issue still remains – at least is would explain what’s happening with our images at the moment.

    I can see in the changelog for version 0.7 (2014-12-04)

    Bug Fix: S3 file overwritten when file with same name uploaded and local file removed (dataferret)

    This is exactly what’s happening with us now – using 0.82.

    It’s been mentioned in a few threads on this forum recently but without a response that I can find.

    Any update appreciated.
