Filter Comment Count Limited to Daily or Weekly Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to show only the posts with the most comments from today or this week. By default if the orderby setting is set to comment count the the recent posts extended widget will showcase the most commented posts off All time.

This creates an issue where a very old post could be displayed in the widget for a long time if it is the most commented on post. So in order to constantly new content in the widget/sidebar I was if it was possible to show only the posts with the most comments from today or this week (one or the other, not both at the same time) within the widget.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is it possible to add a view count onto the posts within the widget?
