    Tony, I know you’re just getting up to speed with taking over development, but thought I’d put out this question/request…

    Is there a way to filter the master schedule by genre? For example, we air a lot of sports play-by-play and would love to output a schedule just of those games for quick view on the site.

    Thanks!

    Hey, thanks for submitting this feature request. I believe this sort of exists already. The station I’m volunteering for, WPVMFM.org, has a master schedule with a filter on it: https://wpvmfm.org/schedule/

    I will ask the developer if he did this or I’ll ask the original plugin developer if she did it and report back.

    While it doesn’t “filter” in the true sense of filtering OUT other objects and only leaving the shows categorized as “sports talk” or something like that, it draws a box around the shows in the category.

    What could happen in a future version is setting a reduced opacity overlay over boxes that are NOT the category selected, which might be a better user experience. There is a way to to do Tabbed schedule, which there’s a tutorial for, but then I’d have to make sure that the filter works for the master schedule AND the tabbed schedule.

    Please note that I am not a developer. I’m a product manager and project manager with three decades of software development and project management experience interested in terrestrial and internet radio and working to provide this solution to everyone for free, as well as to add new features in a PRO version down the road.

    That being said, I’m am actively seeking out development resources to contribute to the project. I have a few folks interested already and am hoping to get some developers on board the project in the coming weeks. I have posts out to Facebook groups, pushing messages out on Twitter, and trying to corral some help through LinkedIn. At this point, I cannot guarantee anything until I get that sorted. And, the first order of business will be a security check and updating the plugin to work with the latest version of WordPress, so that means adding Gutenberg support too. It’s going to be quite a bit of effort to guide this project from its current state to support all the new stuff that’s happened since the last update in 2015.

    I just added this request to the Issues tracker on Github here: https://github.com/netmix/radio-station/issues

    Thanks, Tony;

    Let me try this thought: how would I go about pulling the times & active status to include in a template that could loop through? I’m using Shortcodes Ultimate on the site, so if I could get a template right, I could filter the list through there.

    Edit: or if there’s a way to set it up through the list-shows genre=”” shortcode. I tried replicating the list-shows code, but get errors each time…

    Okay, so you’re getting errors on List Shows shortcode. I’ll have to test that and see if there’s a bug. I’ll get back to you tomorrow.

    Please note I’m taking over this plugin as a non-developer and right now I’m sourcing help for this on a pro-bono basis, so I don’t have an ETA for a fix just yet. But I’ll stay on top of it and see what I can muster up.

    Also, if you can’t get the list shortcode to work and you can’t get the template code to work, then please report this as a bug here: https://github.com/netmix/radio-station/issues

    Helpful to have community members submit the bugs, because you may have more information you want to add then is translated through the support forum.

    Just revisiting this, looks like @boywondr16 you have the tabbed schedule setup (via tutorial) on that page instead of the tabled one… the Genre filtering is currently automatically added to the top of the tabled master schedule only.

    We are looking at incorporating the existing tabbed schedule tutorial to be useable (via shortcode), so when/while that is being done we can look at adding the Genre filter/highlighter to it also.

    Marking this issue resolved as this is not a feature of the tabbed version and we’ll look into adding to tabbed code down the road.
