Filtering Posts
-
I apologize in advance for having low WordPress technical abilities. The features I may be referring to could be an existing stock WP function and please help me find it if that’s the case.
I actually have two questions about my WP category view page. What I’m trying to do is be able to organize one category with about 150 posts and allow my users to easily search through these 150 posts by narrowing down through a search bar if they want to be specific or through filters if they want a bunch of results.
An analogy I would like to use is a clothing store (although my site will not be built for selling). In clothing store websites you can filter clothes by color, size, material and even brand so that only matching results appear. You can be very specific and choose blue, large, cotton, Levi’s brand and get few results or you can go for two filters such as blue and Levi’s only to get more results.
My question is..
1. I was wondering if there is a way to do a search filter for a specific category ONLY so that my users can simply tick boxes to filter down the posts similar to my example above? Maybe an ajax type of functionality too so that the search results get narrowed down in real time as they tick those filters.
2. How do you change the category page so that it shows the posts as featured image and title only instead of showing a preview of the post content? So far my category page looks like this https://www.ragnarokorigin.net/category/monsters/ and I want to change it to grid view just like the latest posts block feature in the gutenberg editor.
Really appreciate your help. My head has been spinning trying to figure this out for the last 8 hours.
