• I was delighted to come across Koko Analytics, after years of loathing the data Google Analytics scooped up and irked by the fact that I had to install Jetpack just to get some simple, attractively-displayed stats from my WordPress site.

The fact that Koko Analytics is self-contained, and not reliant on a third-party service, is a huge plus to me. I’m going to make Koko Analytics my “pick of the week” on my next podcast.

    Cheers!

    Hey Graham,

Awesome, thanks so much for making Koko your pick of the week. Pretty stoked to see 2 things I worked on in a single podcast episode of yours (Koko Analytics & Fathom Analytics). ??

My pleasure Danny. If you’re interested, here’s my story of how I found Koko Analytics.

I was looking for a more privacy-focused alternative to Google Analytics. I tried various services, but many of them collected and presented far more data about visitors than I desired or needed. If anything, too much information was a turn off for my needs.

I stumbled across an article in Fast Company from early 2019 about some different privacy-focused website analytics platforms. One of these was Fathom, which I checked out specifically because the article mentioned your name (which I knew and respected from the Mailchimp for WordPress plugin. I don’t use MailChimp anymore but it was a great plugin)

Fathom looked great for my needs, and I was all set to sign-up with them when I checked out your website and saw that you had also been working on your own plugin that didn’t suffer my one quibble with Fathom: that it relies upon an external service.

So, Koko Analytics wins. Thanks for doing such a great job with it.
