Find user who deleted post

  • Found some posts deleted that were not supposed to be in the Trash. It’s easy enough to restore them, but I would like to find out which user-id deleted them. I’ve searched quite a bit but can’t find any solutions. Does anyone have insight into whether deleting a post records the user who deleted it?

    Not that we know of. Could be a hacker and you should change the password of your dashboard quickly before your site is taken over by them.

    Any spam messages on your site or links to to some canadian drug sites? It’s worth a good check.

    Does anyone have insight into whether deleting a post records the user who deleted it?

    Not really, WordPress doesn’t record that sort of information.

    If you have access to your server logs then delete a test post yourself, see what the acceess_log has for that deletion you just made and then search for the same type of log entry.

    If you’re successful you’ll get the IP address of who deleted it.

    Mind you, that’s a lot of work and it will not tell you who it was but you’ll have a clue after that. ??
