Finding and moving the OTW template files
-
I’m posting this thread to explain where the OTW template files are for people who may not know. =)
In the otw-portfolio-light top folder extracted from the plugin archive is a folder called ‘templates’. Inside /templates/ are the OTW template files to modify to change how the plugin looks and somewhat how it functions.
If you installed OTW from your Dashboard, you’ll need to connect to your site via FTP and navigate to wp-content/plugins/otw-portfolio-light/templates/
These template files can be edited in /templates/, but if you edit them here, then update the plugin, you may lose your edits.
It’s recommended to move the 4 /templates/ files into your theme folder (wp-content/themes/your-theme/). This way, you won’t lose your customizations when you update OWT later on.
Having moved them, to edit any of the files, open the files in an HTML editor or text editor. Do not use Microsoft Word, Open Office Writer, or any program not specifically developed for code. Non-code-based programs will dump a lot of nasty code in your files that you may not be able to see — but it’s there, and it will break the files!
Edit the files, save, and then re-upload them over the template files in your theme. Done! Hope this helps!
