Finding edits on themes and plugins help?

Hi There, I have taken over managing a website for a client, they had it built but the original designer didn’t add a child theme so when i updated the theme and a few plugins, everything crashed, I have restored the backup but is there an easy way to search where they have made edits so i can copy over to a child theme before updating?
