Finding Media

  • Hi, I have a lot of photos on my WordPress site that I use often but when I try to add media to a new post or page WordPress takes me to the media folder and I need to scroll though 100’s of pictures to find the one I need. The filter offered only offers a date option to narrow down the search. However when I am in the media library I am able to move the pictures into different folders which is great so why won’t the filter allow me to select one of these folders instead of just a date the picture was loaded?

    Folder names are normally by year and month, so filtering by date is no different than filtering by folder name. You should be able to search by folder name. Of course you need to know the folder name to do so. If you require more functionality, try searching for plugins that enhance media library functionality.
