• This Grandmother needs help! I have uploaded a media file via Filezilla to my wp-contents-uploads-2009-12 directory. However, when I go into the media library in the WordPress dashboard for my site, the file does not appear. I have tried changing permissions and viewing hidden files and still files are not visible to me. I have verified with my host that I am not exceeding my maximum upload limitations. What instructions have I missed or what am I doing wrong?

  • you can’t do that directly within wordpress….. files not uploaded through wordpress are not recognized by wordpress out of the box

there are plugins, I just can’t recall them….while I’m trying to find one, maybe someone else has a better memory than me

    Bump?

My server only allows files of up to 7MB to be uploaded and I need to upload files that are up to 20MB. I can upload them in FileZilla but obviously now I need a plugin that will show them in WordPress. ??
