Find/Replace on Live Database (New Feature) Poorly Designed
-
Love this plugin; have been using it for years; my company has a Pro license, which I recommend other users invest in. Makes migrating databases a cinch. BUT: the latest version, “Version 0.9” (2016-10-20), has added the find & replace functionality for your site’s LIVE database—without considering user experience and loyal customers’ familiarity with the interface. I just broke my live site by accidentally running a find/replace on the live database because I (admittedly) rushed through the migration process that I’ve performed a thousand times without noticing this new feature (so I was thinking I was finding/replacing/EXPORTING when in fact I was finding/replacing on the live db). Yes, I take some blame here, but the Delicious Brains team deserves some too and they should rectify this major UX problem ASAP. This new feature should be under a different tab entirely as it it has NOTHING to do with the Export process. The styling should differ from that of the find/replace section found under the Export tab. There should be warnings that you’re modifying the live database. The button should be red. And so on… I know this will read as a scapegoat for my stupid mistake, but c’mon, Delicious Brains…
