    Hello everyone,
does anyone know why i cant go into mylocalsupport.com.au/admin? this is the message Im getting. I have tried to delete the plugin on my host account and it doesnt fix it and the themes?

How can I fix this? Do you think it has something to do with my filezilla?

    Server not found
Firefox can’t find the server at mylocaloutsource.com.au

Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    https://www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

OK. So they’re just telling you that since your new domain is pointing at the same old hosting account, you will still see the old files there. No prob. Assuming everything there is part of your WP installation, the changes you make to WP will take care of that.

Next, I see you use cPanel. That’s good. In cPanel, click backups. You will see your database there. Click it and you will download a copy.

You can also download your home directory from there as well. No need for support to do it.

Go ahead and do that, and next we’ll make the changes.

Oh very exciting….Now I have gone into backups and found the mylocalo_database1, it is asking me to save file which I pressed okay, it then disappears into my download folder but when I try and open it says….windows cant open the file?? It doesnt give me a option of saving it somewhere? Is this okay?

    Bill

    (@chubbycrow)

You don’t need to open it. Just save it somewhere in case you ever need it.

    Now the fix.

This Codex page will describe several different ways of going about fixing this. You only need to do one of them. I think the best in your case might be to edit the functions file of your active theme.

You have FileZilla, so you can use that to edit the page. The instructions list 5 steps, provided your theme has a functions file of its own. If not, you can make one as it explains.

Notice that the changes you make you will delete again afterwards.

Also, save a copy of that file before you make any changes!

Thanks Bill, – Okay its saved, what next?

    (@chubbycrow)

    BTW, the file is in wp-content > themes > “yourthemename” > functions.php

OKay i have loaded firezilla and looked for wp-content and there is nothing? I mean filezila!! I have loads of files on the left handside of the screen. Is there a way I can search under that name? wp-content?

    Thread Starter chuckles70

    (@chuckles70)

Bill – i have gone into filezilla and it appears the site wasnt connected. I can now see files on the right hand side and have found /public_html/wp-content.

    (@chubbycrow)

You’re probably at the root of your hosting account. Look for a directory called www, or htdocs, or public_html, and open that. WP is most likely at that first level, or in a folder at that level. (I’ve never used FileZilla, so I can’t advise about its search tools.)

    Good. Keep following the trail.

Yeahh got it…….i have found the yellow theme folder. there are two more folders beneath it called 2010 and 2011. So do I right click on the theme folder, it gives me the option to download, add to queue, delete, rename, create directory, copy to URL,

    Bill

    (@chubbycrow)

2010 and 2011 are other themes.

Open the theme folder. Find functions.php.

Download and save a copy first. Then you can use FileZilla’s ‘edit’ tool to make the changes. If something goes wrong (no way) you can replace it with the copy you saved.

the only files that are listed in the theme folder are 2010 and 2011 and then a index.php file. There is nothing with the name functions in there? Maybe thats the problem?

    Bill

    (@chubbycrow)

What theme are you using? When you said yellow theme folder, I thought you meant your theme was named “yellow”. ??

If not, and you don’t know, you’re probably using 2011 if it’s a fairly new site. Each theme will have a functions file. If you know your theme, open that one.

ha ha ha no i meant the yellow folder ……..ive found it, it was under 2010 – functions.php
