    Greetings,

I hope you are well. I have a bot that constantly scans for images in folders that have never existed. It gets blocked after hitting the threshold which is great but it then changes its IP address and starts over. I started adding the path of the images to the Blocklist but it will searches for so many random names.

I added one of the folder names to “Files, folders and file types” Blocklist. I tested it and I got banned which is good.

However, I don’t get banned if I enter the path of the folder with the image inside it, for example, /image-folder/test.jpg.

    Just to clarify…
    BLOCKLIST
    /image-folder/ — I get banned
    /image-folder/test.jpg — I don’t get banned.

Is it possible to block the folder and all if its contents automatically using the Blocklist or another way?

    Thanks!

    Hi @try01,

Trust you are doing good and thank you for reaching out to us.

I checked this on a test site but was unable to replicate the issue that you have mentioned. However, you can try blocking the access using extensions, just add the extensions that you need to block from the bots, that should work.

Please find more details regarding the same here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/defender/#404-detection

Please give it a try, I hope that helps.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John

    Hello Nebu,

Thanks for testing it. Since you weren’t able to replicate my issue then I’m confident that it’s something on my end. I appreciate your suggestion about blocking extensions but it’s scanning jpeg’s and png’s.

    Thanks again!
