First an apology

  • For some reason, I can’t find the search function in the forum. I thought there used to be one, so I’m apologizing for what’s most likely a duplicate question:

    I’m using WordPress 2.8.4 and I cannot link a .pdf file to a post, e.g. I can upload the file just fine, but when I go to insert it as a link in a post, it doesn’t happen. Any ideas?

    So what “doesn’t happen”? Example url?

    I was having the exact same problem…if I may butt in.

    I just kept clicking stuff until it worked…I figured, at the worst, I delete the post and start over.

    First, I used the Browser uploader…the Flash uploader was being hinky. Choose your file, hit upload, and then, under “Link URL,” choose File URL. It seems that if you are posting more than one document, you only have to do this the first time. Each time after that, WordPress will automatically fill in the Link URL with the File URL for you.

    Click “Insert into Post” and do your happy dance!

    yeah well you got lucky, thats not quite the recommended way of troubleshooting issues, and its bad advice, as that generally breaks more things than it ever fixes.
