First WP theme, looking for feedback

  • Hello all,

    I’ve just created my first WP theme, and am looking for feedback. It’s not 100% from scratch, as i don’t feel quite that confident in my theme-craft abilities just yet. I took a blank theme from Tomorrows Laundry and went from there.

    I’m not sure what specifically i’m looking for; while i don’t mind glowing praise (heh), i’m hoping to get some constructive criticism as well – what can be improved upon?

    I know someone may well mention the scrollbars; they’re prettified in IE, but the back code that allows for that does not exist in Firefox. I’m not sure how to make them less intrusive, so if anyone knows of any tricks or can make any suggestions in that regard, i would be most appreciative.

  • the scrollbars dont really bother me in firefox — the ONLY thing I wish is that it was a smidge wider.. especially for the sidebar.

    It’s alright, I bet it is good for what you wanted and that is most important. I like the bug coming out of the side, and the green gears backgrounds, and the way the whole site is worked together. The scrollbars are not too bad in FF.

    The site structure with the iframe type, internal scrollbars, just is not my favorite ~ especially seems odd to me, on a 1024×780, because I have to First scroll down the overall page so i can see the whole scrollbar areas. Then I find the other scrollbars and move them. Seems it would be better, if you’re going to have the internal set of scrolling, to not have to scroll down to see that whole bar.

    It does set a certain “tone” to the site. The scroll bars don’t bother me, but the choice of light green color for the headers (BLOG, Recent Pages, etc) seems too much of a blend with the background. I’d try some other color to see if it pops them out a bit, if you wish.

    Also, the page seemed to initially load slow on my DSL link. Try refreshing your cache and time it.
