• I’m looking for a plugin or code snippet to add a five-step opt-in feature to my WordPress. I don’t want it to be a pop-up, overlay or lightbox thingy. That’s all too intrusive. I want it to be part of the page above the fold, (preferably even nicely integrated with a slider).

https://breiclub.nl/ have done it right. That’s how I want it.

I realize that this functionality is often called two-step or double-step opt-in. But if you think about it, it actually involves a few more steps ??

    Five-step opt-in:

    1. User clicks ‘Direct Download (PDF)’
    2. Email input form appears. User submits email address and clicks ‘Direct Access’
    3. Website returns page: ‘Please, check your email’
    4. User receives email with a personalized confirmation link. Clicking the link takes the user back to a download page.
    5. User downloads the PDF by clicking on the link provided on the download page.

Integration with MailChimp would be great but is not a hard requirement.

    I wrote this also here:
