Fix for the PHP5.4 compatibility issue

After a while of digging around the internet I found a helpful article on why the Fields plugin causes a 500 error on PHP5.4. This article pointed me in the direction.

Note that I created a ‘Choose images from current post’ action additional to the existing functionality. I hope this can help someone else.
