• Hello.

I have a gardening web site. It should be bright and sunny. My theme, however, has a huge black banner with dark overlay on “section” pages; and a less-dark overlay on regular post headers:

    My theme is OneDot.

How can I remove the black background of this banner, or change it to white and also remove the black image overlay? I don’t mind the little overlay in the box around the text that shows up centered on the header images.

I’d also like to change the size of the header banner area to the proportion of 1920 x 750.

I’d like to be able to do all of that by adding code to the customizer to override the default settings, which I can’t read or understand, anyway.

    Thanks for your time.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Here’s an example of the extra-dark overlay that I want to remove or disable:

There is a lighter overlay on the header when it’s a post header, I want to remove-disable that, as well, to be able to see the natural color of the photo:

That’s also the banner-header size I want to impose to override the default size, which is much taller.

    Thanks again.

Very disappointing theme. Fundamentals don’t work in this theme, and the designer doesn’t answer support questions.

Cannot remove or alter the default BLACK overlay, darker on some pages or posts than on other pages or posts, and would like it GONE.

If disabling the slider area, instead of removing it, this leaves a 2-inch white space between the menu and the posts area.

I’ve looked at the whole onedot theme, the whole parent theme, blogbel, and cannot find any indication anywhere of where the black headers and black overlays are coming from. In fact, the option in the theme says disable “white” overlay! Even trying that does no good.

Looking at the history of these two themes in the support area at www.ads-software.com, other people long ago had the same issues, and also never had a reply.

Themes don’t really work as claimed, and support is not forthcoming, even the temptation to “sell” an upgrade to someone using the free version doesn’t seem to inspire any help at all. And I do purchase when I find something that works. I bought a $99 plugin recently, that worked after many uses of the free one. I’d buy a theme if it proved it could work, or if the support was there, but not at this rate.

How many hours and days of your time can you waste chasing after help, meanwhile you cannot “develop” your site at all because your theme doesn’t work as advertised and can’t be “customized” as alleged; and you can’t find a similar one to replace it.

This is one of those days that makes me really fed up with wordpress. We spend more time chasing after things that don’t work, than we do actually blogging, which is supposed to be the whole point. Choose a theme, click to configure, and get writing. Instead, I’m always clicking to configure and there’s always something NOT working, so I can’t write.

If they refuse to support, they should have their themes REMOVED from www.ads-software.com.
