  • Could you please provide a link to your site?

I just tested the scroll/fixed option on a test site with Fictive and it’s working as expected at this end.

You could try temporarily deactivating all your plugins to see if something might be interfering.

I remember it early on working and then not.

Just tried disabling plugins, but no change.

It looks like you’ve edited some of the theme files directly, which means that all your tweaks will be overwritten when updating the theme. It’s likely one of these theme changes that has affected the scrolling/fixed positioning.

The best way to make changes to a theme is to use a child theme, otherwise Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:

After moving all your changes over to a child theme, I suggest reinstalling the default theme to restore the original functionality.

I’d only made a single edit (which I had done the same on a number of previous themes without hassle) but to ensure properly, I deleted the theme and then reinstalled it.

    Same issue.

I made few other changes – I deleted the email address from the gravatar email box, but even putting it back in did nothing and I had a sticky post which I unstickied, but nothing.

Cleared cache and cookies, but nothing there either.

    Thanks for trying those steps.

I spoke with the developer of the theme, who clarified what’s going on here.

In Fictive if the height of the sidebar contents is taller than the window height, the theme will automatically remove the fixed positioning so people can access the sidebar content – otherwise, it would remain hidden below the bottom of the screen edge. To see this in action, try removing your widgets temporarily and you’ll see that the sidebar is indeed fixed.

    That was it. Thanks.

Now to work out what to put in the sidebar…

Glad that solved the issue. Good luck with the site!
