Hi, I want to add some intro/welcome text on the home page of my blog – not on the other pages – but i am not sure how to go about it because my welcome post always disappears (goes down to the bottom of the page) as I keep adding more posts to the blog (which makes sense to me because the welcome message is a POST).

I figure that the solution is to change a template somewhere, but I am not quite sure which template to change to apply a change on the home page which will not affect the presentation of other pages.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Check out Adhesive. I suspect it is what you’re after.

    Thanks for the link HandySolo.

I also just did a quick test, and it seems that changes done in <root>/wp-content/themes/default/index.php only affect the blog home page, is this correct? If yes, then this will do the trick for me as well, yes?

It could, yes – depending upon how your theme is setup.

Couple advantages with using the plugin approach:
    1) No need to hack the theme
    2) You can change themes without losing the effect.

But yes, your approach would likely work as well.
