After updating to 5.1.9, the ability to restrict time entry to 15 minute intervals appears to be missing.

(Currently-installed version of DynamicTime Pro is 3.1.5)

(I also have a feature request on this but I wanted to address this first.)

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for your report. Recent changes to the hour entry field changed the up/down increment from .05 to .25 hours. No restrictions were added or removed, but browsers may render the field slightly differently from one another and from mobile to desktop. Let me know what features would be helpful in this case.

In 5.1.9, I’m seeing the increment at 1 minute intervals only. (We had requested this feature from you & are now no longer seeing it.)

The feature request I would make would be to not allow users to type a value into the minutes field. They’d only be able to increment by the fixed interval (15 minutes in this case). The way it was working, it was possible to type in a new arbitrary value. Here’s a use-case as I observed it before the apparent regression:

    1. Enter start and end times at .25 hour marks. (Let’s say, 8:15 and 10:15.)
    2. Using mouse click or tab/shift-tab, focus the minutes field of either the start or end time.
    3. Type new time (let’s say, new start time of 8:09).
    4. Click OK; time entry is accepted (in at 8:09, out at 10:15).

Desired outcome would be that user would not be able to manually enter an arbitrary time at [3]; failing that, OK button should not be available until they correct the time to a quarter hour interval, & an error displayed.

[Aside: we happen to use 15 minutes, but I’ve worked in organizations that reported time in 6 minute (.1 hr), 10 minute (1/6 hour), & 15 minute (.25 hour) increments.]

Following up: Can you verify that we should have fixed 15 minute intervals in 5.1.9? I cannot make that happen – increments are 1 minute, as noted above.

    Hi Eric,

Yes most browsers will allow 1 minute intervals after clicking into the time field, even after restrictions are added. This is because the browser renders the time field and it may appear different between Edge, Chrome and Firefox. The behavior changes based on the field in different browsers – and between mobile and desktop versions. Attempting to restrict the time has different results in different browsers, so we’ve decided to let the browser render it without restrictions.

For itemized entries, the plugin offers up and down arrows next to the time entry fields that increment the time input by 15 minutes. There is also similar behavior for the ‘simple total’ entry type.
