Fixing BuddyPress 2.9.3
-
So you’ve updated BuddyPress to version 2.9.3 and Loco Translate complains that it can’t sync your translations due to an invalid file.
In Loco Translate 2.1.0 you will see this message:
Translation template is invalid (buddypress.pot)
This is because BuddyPress accidentally released their update with an empty POT file. So what can you do about it?
The official advice from BuddyPress is to download an old copy of buddypress.pot from the previous version (2.9.2). This will work, but will have 118 new strings missing.
Until the next release of BuddyPress, please try downloading this POT file in its place.
To add new translations for version 2.9.3, open your PO language file in the Loco Translate editor and click “Sync”. You should see a message saying that 118 new strings were added. If you see that some strings were also removed, it means they’re no longer used in the plugin.

Disclaimers:
I’m not associated with BuddyPress and I can’t 100% guarantee this file is correct. It has 2,079 strings in it and appears to contain all strings from the previous version plus 118 more.
This file will be overwritten the next time you update BuddyPress, but assuming the next version contains a valid POT file, this won’t matter.
