When I try to configure wordfence I get this message.

We were unable to create the wordfence-waf.php file in the root of the WordPress installation. It’s possible WordPress cannot write to the wordfence-waf.php file because of file permissions. Please verify the permissions are correct and retry the installation.

What folder do I need to change the file permissions for? What should I change the permissions to?

    Hi @geegee123,

wordfence-waf.php normally lives in the root of your site such as /home/customer/www/yoursite.com/public_html/wordfence-waf.php

Make sure that permissions on your WordPress site’s directories are 755 and that the owner on your WordPress root directory (and all contained directories) is www-data. Web servers such as Apache, Nginx, etc will require www-data to be an owner so that WordPress and plugins can update and run functions required to do so.

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Peter.
