Flickr Link to Image not applicable in Media Upload?

  • I’d like to start uploading image URLs to my blog, instead of uploading directly from my computer, as I’m running short on space with my server. I can upload normal, everyday photos via an URL just fine (stuff from Buzzfeed, for example) but whenever I try to upload via a URL in the Media Uploader, using a link to an image in one of my own image-hosting services, especially flickr, I get the Red X of Doom and can’t upload.

    I hope that makes sense. I’ve searched plugins and googled and looked in the forums in vain. Could it be a theme issue? I’m running Pilcrow.

    Also: if this is a flickr issue, I have no idea what to do beyond linking the accounts in settings.
    (I’ve asked this question so many times and have yet to get any answer! Please, WordPress gods!)
