I’m trying to use the new Flickr Photo Album plugin but when I click to get authorisation from Flickr, I get the message back that ‘Flickr can’t find a valid callback URL’.

I’ve left messages in the tantan forums on Flickr, but while others report the same problem, nobody has responded as of yet so am giving it a go here to see if some kind person can help.

I’ve tried switching off all my other plugins, then giving it a go – nothing. Put them all back on, tried with firewall on then off – nothing (just in case that had anything to do with it). I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do, including making the plugin’s cache folder writeable on the server.

I just need to get Flickr to recognise the plugin and, it seems, all will then work… I hope…

If it’s working for others, why not me? Any and all help, as always, is appreciated. I would dearly love to be able to implement this particular plugin… I’m using WordPress 2.0.2…

  • Hi – I’m having the same problem so hope someone can offer some advice.

Hi there atelier455 (and anyone else with this problem)! I’m pleased to say I decided to give the very latest version of this plugin a try today – 0.5 – and I didn’t expect it to work having had no luck with 0.3 and 0.4 but… hoorah! It worked just fine. It was able to get authorisation from Flickr without any problem, and has integrated well into my site.

I still have one problem, but it is low-priority and doesn’t affect the functionality. When you click on my photos tab, the sidebar disappears until you go elsewhere on the site and it comes back. Other than that, everything’s great! So I suggest you give 0.5 a try, see what happens.

Hi spicycauldron. The sidebar dissapearing is actually by design, as far as I can tell. It’s commented out in the template.

To turn it back on, copy view.php as photos.php in your theme folder, and also copy photoalbum-* to your theme folder.

Once those are copied in, you can edit the “photo album” template and uncomment the get_sidebar() function.
