Follow buttons not showing

    I just installed AddThis plugin in my WordPress website. I created an AddThis Share button from within WordPress and it displayed correctly.

    Then I created an AddThis account. In the AddThis account dashboard I then created a Follow button and pressed “publish”. The follow button is activated as shown in my AddThis account dashboard, and my social media link is set, but the Follow button does not appear on my website.

    I also notice that this Follow button does *not* appear on the WordPress back end in the AddThis “share” screen.

    I thought maybe my profile was not being properly syncronized between my AddThis account and my WordPress AddThis plugin, so I hardcoded my profile ID in the AddThis advanced settings page via the addthis_config option, but this did not help. I.e. the follow button still does not show on my website.

    I also made sure to purge my cache.

    I am using the Divi/Extra theme with WordPress 4.9.6 (not Gutenberg).

    I thought that since the share button was created in my website with the plugin that the plugin would also add the code to display the Follow button. Is this correct? Or do I have to add the specific AddThis Follow code to my website in order to get the Follow button to show (even though I have installed the AddThis plugin)

    It appears that you’ve activated the inline Follow button, which comes with its own HTML snippet that you’ll have to add to your theme’s template for it to render.

    Here is the code you’ll have to add to one of your theme’s template in order for the Follow buttons to show:
    <div class=”addthis_inline_follow_toolbox”></div>

    Here is the WP shortcode you could use in case you’d want to paste this in your content editor:
    [addthis tool=”addthis_inline_follow_toolbox”]

    If you wish to have the follow buttons automatically appear on top of your site without having to add any additional code, you can opt to activate the “Header” version instead:
