Placed a ditty in the header on site. Looks great on desktop, but on iPhone there is a font change to bigger type every second iteration of a tick.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This is interesting and difficult to tell what is going on… I have never seen it before! Please try setting a specific font size for your Ditty by:

    1. Edit your Ditty
    2. Select the Display tab
    3. Select the Styles tab
    4. Set a Font Size in the Item Typography section

It’s possible the use of clamp() for your body font size is causing issues with the ticker. Clamp() is used for responsive sizing based on container width and that is about the only thing I can find that may be causing this.

Let me know what you find out.

    No effect.

Thanks for letting me know. Do you still have the font-size setting applied? I’m not seeing the css that should be applied when checking out the code?

If it is still applied please be sure to clear any caches to ensure it renders with the update on non-logged in devices.

Was experimenting. Have reapplied it so you can see. Do I need to create a layout perhaps or a custom class in Global Ditty? Not sure what I would put there.

I’m pretty confused on this one… it doesn’t seem like additional css resolves it. I tested some more in the developer tools of the browser and the font still changes no matter how much css and !important(s) I use. I have never seen this before!

Can you try placing the ticker within the content on a test page using a shortcode (not using the Global Ditty)? I would like to see if that makes a difference.

All Global Ditty settings are set to default now. I’ve set up a blank template with a general content area for the Ditty above and below the header using the Ditty shortcode. The error occurs without the header below and when there is only one Ditty block as well as when there is only the header with one Ditty shortcode block below. Two Ditty blocks in any position fixes the error, but one can still see that the line height isn’t correct until after the first tick completes.

Thanks for the info. I don’t know what is going on.

I think you’ll need to disable other plugins and try a default theme to start tracking down what may be causing this. https://www.metaphorcreations.com/article/general/plugins/test-plugin-conflicts/

Again, I don’t see any reason why this would be happening based on what I can view of your site, and I’ve never seen anything like it before. The only way to try and figure this out from this point on, is to test it out while taking away as many other factors as possible (other plugins, custom theme, etc..). First making sure this doesn’t happen with all other variables removed, and then one by one re-enabling things to see what may be causing it to behave this way.

Thanks for you time. Although I like your plugin, there is another simpler one that works fine for my needs. I’ll just move on.

Ok, no problem. Sorry I couldn’t figure this out!

Actually, my solution was to dump the Catch FSE theme and the Easy Google Fonts by Titanium. Redid in Twenty Twenty Four and switched to Fonts Plugin. All good now. I suspect the Easy Google Fonts plugin.

Ok, cool, thanks for the info! I was wondering if it was an external font issue… loading after the ticker calculated the positions using different font. Although the size of the font is still strange. Oh well. This is good information to know going forward.

    Have a great week!
