• All of a sudden, the option (button) to change font color is missing. It was there one minute and then gone.

(It’s probably too much of a coincidence, but I also encountered an image upload error at the same time about “Post-processing of the image failed.” I gather it’s a cPanel PHP memory issue – gibberish to me – so I’m asking my webhost if they can fix this in cPanel.)

I’m working with an old theme, Twenty Twelve. I’d update it to see if that could be the problem (though I doubt it since it happened suddenly), but the last time I tried to update the theme, it changed the entire layout of the blog so I’m gun shy about messing with that.

Don’t know if it’s relevant, but I haven’t posted in my blog in several months.

My temporary work around is to copy and paste text that has the color I want and then edit the text. It’s clumsy but solved the problem for the moment.

I’m not a WP expert, btw, so will need really basic advice if possible.

    Thanks.

Are you currently using any page builder plugins that might be impacting the “font color button” situation?

    Hi Lisa,
I don’t think so. That’d be something like Elementor, right? (I use that on my website, but not on the blog.)
I definitely didn’t install any today, though I did update several plugins.
    Thanks,
    David

Elementor is a website builder plugin. (https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/elementor/)

try this: install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme might help narrow down the source of the issue you are experiencing. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

Thanks Lisa. I use Elementor on another site, not on this one, so that isn’t the culprit here. And I don’t use any other page builders. It may be an updated plugin since I did just go through updating a bunch of them. Rather than turning them off en-masse with the health check plugin, I think I might try turning off plugins one by one (especially if I can recall which ones I updated). In either case, do I need to log out and back in to see if that resolves the problem, or can I stay logged in after turning off a plug in?

Also, I mentioned earlier that I am loathe to update my twenty twelve theme because, if I recollect correctly, when I tried that once before, it significantly altered the layout/look. Is that something that should normally happen? Or am I better off updating the theme?

    Thanks and happy new year!

Same problem here and it happened at the same time. And I’m pretty sure my theme is up to date. Can someone help?

I’m now having the same issue. The font color button is suddenly gone. I think it used to be right next to the Bold button in the options above the product description field. I’m using Storefront, which is up-to-date along with all my plugins. I’ve tried to troubleshoot with deactivating all plugins, etc.

Anyone have any idea why this is now happening?

Found it! In the toolbar, there’s now a “toolbar toggle” button. Click on it and additional buttons appear voila!
