Font Error After Site Migration
-
OK, so I found a thread dealing with a similar issue, but it’s closed now, so I couldn’t comment on there, but i attempted to try the resolution in here and it hasn’t worked for me
basically, i wanted to upgrade from one of bluehost’s shared hosting plans to a VPS hosting plan, but apparently you can’t just upgrade between those two, so i had to start a new acct so i could migrate my site to the new acct’s server. After migration, everything else seems to work fine, except that the font i wanna use isn’t showing on the live site.
My theme’s called Z Best and i want to use the default font for it, which is a sans serif font called ‘Lato.’ I didn’t change it, so the font was working fine prior to migration and i also didn’t change it after migration, but this error still happened, anyway.
When you go to the live site, the font that shows up is some completely random serif font. I’m not even sure what it’s called, cuz what’s weirder is that, when you try to the page source or w/e, it says that the font’s still Lato, but it’s obviously not. The strangest part’s that when i go to customize the site, the default font, Lato, shows up perfectly fine, but when i save it, it still doesn’t update on the live site. When i change it to a different font and publish, it updates immediately, but once i change it back to Lato and publish, it goes back to being the random serif font. I tried posting a different thread for help, but didn’t really get much

so, then I called bluehost and they couldn’t figure it out, either, and recommended i contact bluesky to see if they could help. So, I ended up paying for a month of bluesky, contacted them, and made a google drive folder to show the bluesky rep screenshots for proof that you can see below, cuz i’m not sure how to add the pictures in this post:

The bluesky rep did some toying around and said it’s most likely the kirki framework plugin causing the issue. That made me do some googling, which brought me to the first thread that i couldn’t reply to and posted above.
multiple people in there said they fixed it by deleting the ‘fonts’ folder with FTP and resetting their website’s cache. I forgot to mention that i also reset my browser, site, wordpress, and bluehost caches multiple times before this and even tried appending the ?action=kirki-reset-cache command to the end of my site’s URL as mentioned in the first thread above, but obviously none of that worked.
The bluesky rep had to explain to me what FTP even is, i downloaded filezilla, got logged in, but my folder had no subfolders for some reason, so i called bluehost again to get help. I explained everything to the rep i talked to and he said that i could also try deleting the fonts inside the ‘fonts’ folder through the cpanel’s file manager instead, which i did as i was talking to him, and that there’s also some cache on bluehost’s end that i have no access to that he could reset, then to check again in an hour.
Well, it’s been more than an hour now and i’ve also done all the other cache stuff again and it still isn’t working. does anybody have any ideas how i could fix this or what i may be doing wrong?
