I have a blog where I didn’t update Jetpack in several months. The Jetpack version that ran until September 20th was 10.8.

Around September 20th I updated my Jetpack on that blog to the then latest version 11.3.1 and since then I’ve been noticing that the type of font that is shown in the post editor is quite different from the default font which was used before. The new font looks more like Arial or maybe Verdana, whereas the old font looked more like Times New Roman.

I even tried deleting the new Jetpack and installing again 10.8 but that didn’t change the default font in the editor – it still uses the Arial-like font.

I know this is definitely due to Jetpack because if it is deactivated the editor goes back to the old default font which looks more like Times New Roman.

Is there a way to prevent Jetpack from changing the default editor font, and to switch back to the old font?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

I am unable to replicate this issue on my test site. Whether Jetpack is active or not, I still get the same font and general look on my editor. As long as we’re talking about the Block Editor and not the Classic Editor, usually, it’s the theme that affects the style of the post editor (font family, font sizes, background color, and so on), so I’d suggest checking if your theme was updated recently.

    Kind regards.

Hello, I forgot to say that I use only the classic editor, not the block one. I use the official classic editor plugin to have it permanently enabled. Also, I forgot to mention that this pertains to the mobile version the WP dashboard, but it is possible that it shows the same for the desktop version as well.

    Please see these two screenshots.

The first screenshot shows this new editor font that became default after I updated Jetpack around Sep 20th. The second screenshot shows the old default editor font which can now be obtained omly if I deactivate Jetpack.

I have not updated my theme in many years, and it is bot able to auto update itself.

    Hi @cennadron

Thanks for providing those details! I’ve seen you’ve mentioned using the Classic Editor instead of the Block Editor, and I am not sure what’s causing this, as Jetpack shouldn’t alter/change the font used.

Does it happen only on the back end (when editing pages/posts)? If that’s the case, you may get used to it; otherwise, you can ask for assistance in the Classic Editor forum:

    Best,

    Hi,

I’m getting the same in the classic editor when we install Jetpack. It only affects the back-end.
