Font on my WP site suddenly changed

  • I have posted this on the WP Simple Theme forum but no one has posted on that forum for years. I am re-posting here in hopes someone can help.

    I received an email with SEO concerns that the font on my site was too small. I checked it out and realized the font in the navigation and in body font. The font type also changed from Open Sans and Esteban to Arial. On the backend, everything is the same as before. How can I fix this?

  • Something I use to control my fonts easily is this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/olympus-google-fonts/

    I really like that plugin since it’s quite easy to change fonts and control which font is used for e.g. only headings.

    But, if you don’t want a plugin… Check your theme settings. Maybe with an update to the theme, the default font changed.

    This looks like an issue with the WP Simple Theme and not WordPress Core.

    However, on investigating, as per the image linked below, I found that the font value is either not set in or being pulled from the theme options.

    I’d suggest you to check the theme options.

    Thank you so much for the screenshot and guidance. I checked the typography section of the theme options and everything looks perfect. Do you know how I can pull the font value from the theme options? Is there CSS I can add/correct to the site?

    I inspected the landing page and I saw this error:

    Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘msie’)
    at jquery.tools.min.js?ver=1.2.6:20:204
    at jquery.tools.min.js?ver=1.2.6:20:2814

    I don’t have enough understanding of JQuery. Any insight into solutions?
